J1 WORK & TRAVEL PROGRAM
We have programs suited for everyone, but of all our programs, our largest and most successful so far has been the J1 Work & Travel Program. This program allows full-time college and university students the opportunity to live and work legally in the US during their summer break through a J1 Visa. A J1 W&T Visa is a temporary work visa with a limit of 4 months and an additional 30 days grace period that could be used for travelling and site-seeing before returning home. The J1 program was designed by the US Government to promote cultural exchange and global awareness among future leaders of foreign countries and the US. Additionally it fills the seasonal staffing needs of US employers between the months of May through to September/October, when US job vacancies are on a rise in tourist destinations, summer camps and theme parks.
The J1 Work & Travel program has many benefits, including easy visa grant, US work experience on your resume, but most importantly the program offers students an opportunity to experience the world from a different perspective. While working in the US, students will experience the weather, food and culture first hand, see a different type of work ethic, broaden their network, and learn varied trade strategies. First Rio is proud to be a part of a program that fosters growth among young people in Jamaica.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
- 18years– 28years
- Full-time college student
- Clean Police Record
- None US citizenship/Not being filed for by a US Immigrant
- Clean visiting visa record (where applicable)
- Valid passport with at least 12 months before expiration
- GPA 2.0 and above
